Are you loving your freshly painted kitchen (see last week's post)? If you took my advice, I bet you’ve discovered how refreshing and clean those few coats of new paint made your kitchen feel. Now it’s time to make a real difference! The kitchen is the heart of your home. Whether you’re preparing to list your home for sale or updating for your own enjoyment, you’ll get the most bang for your buck by making sure that your kitchen reflects high quality design elements and attention to detail. One of the most important improvements I recommend is replacing outdated countertops with granite. Granite comes in a huge variety of colors and hues. It strikes a perfect balance between function and style and is resistant to scratches, staining and burning. It’s easy to clean and does not promote bacterial growth like synthetic products.
Many clients fear that granite is too expensive, but I assure you that you’ll never regret investing in this upgrade. If you’re selling your home, you’ll get your investment back – granite countertops are a major selling point! If you’re staying, you’ll get years of enjoyment out of granite. I promise… you’ll more than make up your initial investment when you consider durability, ease of use and luxury.
As you begin researching your granite choices, you might feel overwhelmed by the huge number or promotions, vendors and selections. To streamline your decision making, I personally recommend a visit with Jonathan Lambert (jonathan@tritonstone.com or 615-613-0440) at Triton Stone Group:http://www.tritonstone.com/Locations/Nashville-TN/Nashville-granite.html. Triton is a wholesale distributor of granite and other stone products. Here's what Jonathan has to say about making the transition to granite countertops:
“Granite is a natural product that is being used in homes in a functional way. It's still considered a luxury upgrade, but pricing has come down a great deal in recent years and it's now attainablefor most homeowners. One of the biggest trends we've seen is changing the finish of the stone. Most buyers think of shinysurfaces when they think of granite, but today we're seeing more 'honed' or matte finishes. 'Leathering' is another finish choice and yields a matte and textured surface for a more rustic or casual feel. Understand that granite costs depend on many factors. Typically consistent patterns are less expensive. Slabs with a lot of movementor swirls increase prices. Granites with cobalt blue highlights and reds also tend to be more expensive.”
When you visit Jonathan, he'll help you choose your own slab of granite and can introduce you to the qualified design staff at Triton who'll be happy to help you design backsplashes, make plumbing choices, etc. I also recommend Mary Lawwith Eagle Granite for the custom installation. Once you've selected your stone from Triton, you'll need a qualified installer for measuring and installation. Mary can be reached at 615-305-2812. Mary's well acquainted with all the kind folks at Triton. Together, they can make all your granite dreams come true!
